We have two sons and our oldest moved out recently to begin his freshmen year at a university. My husband and I really miss him and each time he calls, our eyes and ears light up. We love hearing from him and can’t wait to see him again as we love him so very much. We almost dread next year when our other son will go off to the university and our house will be an empty nest.
Now I feel I can better understand how our heavenly family feels when we pray to them and go to church. Just as we love our children, they love us. They want us to reach out to them, to communicate with them, and to show our love for them. “What no eye has seen nor ear heard, nor the heart imagined what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).
Pray daily and without ceasing and give thanks in all circumstances (c.f., 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). Our prayers strengthen our heavenly cloud of witnesses in the earthly spiritual battle between angels and demons. Visit church as often as you can to receive the holy sacraments. Imagine how much it pleases Jesus and His Blessed Mother Mary when we walk into His Church. These are pleasing to our Lord who pioneered and perfected our faith.
Thank you for your time.
