Elon Musk and Jordan Peterson recently sat down for a conversation about events in our world and the way they want to shape them. Both share much in common as they once would have considered themselves on the more liberal side of the political aisle, yet now have emerged as combatants of what they would call the “woke mind virus.” Jordan Peterson emerged to fame in 2016 in Canada with his public fight against a bill called C16, which aimed at compelling speech and forcing Canadians to say things with which they may know to not be truthful. Elon Musk has emerged to fame through his many successful organizations that have sent rockets into space and have aspirations to colonize the planet Mars. Let’s dig into their commonalities, the fight against the woke mind virus, Elon’s artificial intelligence Grok quest for the ultimate knowledge, Jordan’s Biblical quest for the truth, and the way their paths have collided.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28 ESV).
Elon Musk is a billionaire who with major roles in companies such as Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, Xai, and Twitter, which he renamed X. He was born in South Africa in 1971 and he has had three wives and twelve children. In his interview with Jordan Peterson, he revealed that one of his children, Xavier, now a deadname, has been a victim of the woke mind virus. He also recently declared to Governor Gavin Newsome that he’d be moving his businesses from California to Texas as California had committed the last straw: it has bars teachers and staff in schools from revealing to parents that their children are suffering from gender dysphoria unless the children agree to the revelation.
Jordan Peterson is a millionaire former professor of psychology from the University of Toronto who has published best selling books such as “Maps of Meaning,” “The Twelve Rules for Life,” and “Twelve More Rules for Life.” He is the husband of Tammy Peterson, who recently and miraculously survived terminal cancer, which she attributes to many prayers and reflections on the Rosary. Tammy recently completed the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults into the Catholic Church. He is also the father to two children and grandchildren and an advocate of the carnivore diet, which he and his family have benefited greatly from.
When Elon was 11 and 12 years old, he had a personal crisis in his quest for meaning and purpose. He read the holy books – the Bible, the Quran, and others – and felt these books didn’t answer the big questions he had. Then he read (an atheist called) Douglas Adams’ Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, which is a comedic story about people on a space ship who cruise the universe looking for answers to our meaning and purpose in life. The story concludes with everything boiling down to the number 42. That gave Elon solace as he realized we can’t know everything and we need to ask the right questions.
He has spent much of his life in the quest to know as much about our planet and universe as possible, which is why one of his latest technologies is called Grok, which is defined as a true, deep understanding of something. He wants to truly and deeply understand the world and through artificial intelligence, or “Grok,” Elon plans to compile all information in the world so this machine will not only be more intelligent than the smartest man, it will be more intelligent than the sum of all intelligence in man. In other words, this machine will be a sort of god.
Jordan pushed Elon into explaining his religion and Elon seemed to realize that the technologies he’s been exploring are his religion. Something in my mind alludes to ancient times when people desired similar in the Tower of Babel, which God destroyed. God doesn’t want us to use our own abilities to attempt to bust past our own realm into heaven. He wants us to accept his offers of grace so we unite ourselves with heaven. The kingdom of heaven is within us.
That said, I believe God is working through all things for the better, which includes Elon. He’s working through Elon to combat the woke mind virus, which has infected our world. He so generously purchased Twitter, renamed X, for billions of dollars to save people from this swarthy virus. He realized that he could change the world for the better and he sacrificed his bank account and his reputation among the wolves and hyenas in our media to do so. For the love of a father to his dead son he made these great sacrifices.
What is the woke mind virus? The woke mind virus rears its ugly head when we actively deny the truth. Some actively deny truths in science as participants with this ugly dragon. We’ve seen it in the past in the communist regimes of the USSR, China, Cambodia, and North Korea – and we’re seeing it today when people in some places are compelled to participate in the big lie, compelled speech. Lies are the evil sons of the father of lies, Satan. The truth deals a deathblow to Satan’s lies. Truth matters.
Jordan is working on a book entitled “We who wrestle with God.” His quest to knowledge includes a quest for wisdom, so he’s published numerous videos on a major source of wisdom we have on this globe: the Bible. Within the pages of the Bible are the answers to all questions of purpose and meaning.
We’re living a life with love and apathy; with good and evil; with perseverance and indolence; with humility and pride; with pain and pleasure; and with the sacrifice of others for ourselves and the sacrifice of ourselves for others. Life and death. Wheat and weeds. Lambs and goats. Angels and demons. The powers of good vs. the powers of evil. We’re in a great spiritual battle and without the armor of truth, we stand no chance of survival.
The ultimate explanation of our purpose and meaning died on the cross for us around 2,000 years ago when Jesus laid down His life to open the gates of heaven to those who faithfully seek Him. And then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. Truth matters.
Jordan Peterson and Elon Musk want to impact the world in positive ways by living in accords with the truth. We all have the power to make a meaningful difference in this world. Ask and seek the truth, and you will find Him.
